Brief Summary The Mahabharata Secret by Christopher C. Doyle

The protagonist looks like a fool who doesn’t think Uzi-waving men are any real threat. Who, along with his friends, thinks international terrorists are a joke and helps them voluntarily thinking they will let them go as a gesture of goodwill. In fact it’s ridiculous how every member of the ragtag team volunteers information they know will be used for causing massive destruction. A man of integrity would have happily sacrificed his own pathetic life so as not to help people who kill in thousands, but not these people. A man with sense would know that the terrorists would kill him and his friends anyway once they get what they want, but not these people. And in the end, the protagonist has no regrets for what he did and consoles himself with the fact that he did it to save his friends. Really? This last part is really hard to understand. All the characters are really caricatures carrying the story. It’s a plot driven book, and the plot is, though a bit far-fetched, not bad. Conspiracy theories are all the rage, thanks to Dan Brown. The characters are all a bit gullible and unidimensional, and hence uninteresting. It’s terribly convenient how all history buffs come together to form a team, that too from diverse backgrounds. Why an Indian nuclear scientist would trust a Pakistani nuclear scientist with a terrible secret is something that’s neither explained nor explicable. An amateur ancient script aficionado deciphers them on the fly like reading a book on nursery poems, and competes with himself in making it as fast and as easy for the waiting terrorists as possible. Poor chaps are pressed for time, after all.
