Former Director of the Central Cotton Research Institute (CCRI), Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Makhdoom, 78, has achieved another milestone by completing a PhD from Bahauddin Zakariya University’s Social Sciences Department.
Dr. Makhdoom earned his PhD in Chemistry from BZU in 2004 and completed a Master’s in Agriculture Honors Social Sciences from the University of Faisalabad in 1970. He began his career at WAPDA Scarp in the same year and was later recruited by CCRI as a Scientific Officer. He was promoted to Senior Scientific Officer in 1985, Principal Scientific Officer in 1995, and finally Director of CCRI in 2006, from which he retired.
Even after his retirement, Dr. Makhdoom has remained active, contributing to international organizations such as CGIAR Colombia, FAO Italy, and the Ministry of Food & Research in a consultative capacity. He has presented 50 international and 120 local research papers to date.
