New Travel Advisory
The Government of Pakistan has issued a new travel advisory that makes polio vaccination certificates or cards compulsory for travelers heading overseas. NADRA has instructed airlines operating international routes to verify polio vaccination status before allowing passengers to board flights.
Expired Polio Vaccination Cards
Previous polio vaccination cards have now expired, and it is mandatory for international travelers to possess a valid and updated polio vaccination card.
Who Needs a Polio Vaccination Card?
The polio vaccination card is mandatory not only for Pakistani residents but also for long-term visitors—those staying in Pakistan for more than four weeks. It is required for every international traveler, regardless of age.
Required Polio Vaccines
International travelers can receive their polio vaccination through one of the following methods:
- Bivalent Oral Poliovirus Vaccine (bOPV)
- Inactivated Poliovirus Vaccine (IPV)
Travelers are advised to get vaccinated at least four weeks before their departure and obtain the necessary certificate.
How to Get a Polio Vaccination Certificate
To obtain a polio vaccination certificate for international travel, follow these steps:
- Locate a Vaccination Center: Find the nearest polio vaccination center and get vaccinated. Your vaccination will be registered with your CNIC at the center.
- Visit the NIMS Website: Go to the National Immunization Management System’s website at https://nims.nadra.gov.pk/.
- Enter Required Information: Provide your CNIC number and select the vaccine for which you want to download the vaccination certificate.
- Pay the Fee: The Government of Pakistan charges a fee of Rs. 100 to download the Polio Vaccination Certificate from the NIMS website.
- Download the Certificate: After entering your details and paying the fee, you can download the NADRA vaccination certificate for polio or apply for a physical polio vaccination card, either of which can be used for travel.
